Vhdl-ams Implementation of a Numerical Ballistic Cnt Model

چکیده
This contribution presents a VHDL-AMS implementation of a novel numerical carbon nanotube transistor (CNT) modelling approach which relies on a flexible and efficient cubic spline non-linear approximation of the non-equilibrium mobile charge density. The underlying algorithm creates a rapid and accurate solution of the numerical relationship between the charge density and the self-consistent voltage. This leads to a speed-up in the calculation of the current through the channel by about two orders of magnitude without losing much accuracy. The numerical approximation is accurate within less than 1.5% of the normalised RMS error compared with a previously reported theoretical modelling approach. The proposed VHDL-AMS implementation has been used in simulations of a logic inverter in SystemVision to demonstrate the feasibility of applying the spline-based technique in development of efficient and accurate CNT models for applications in circuit-level simulators.

Behavioral Modeling and Simulation of Semiconductor Devices and Circuits Using VHDL-AMS
During the past few years, a lot of work has been done on behavioral models and simulation tools. But a need for modeling strategy still remains. The VHDL-AMS language supports the description of analog electronic circuits using Ordinary Differential Algebraic Equations (ODAEs), in addition to its support for describing discrete-event systems. For VHDL-AMS to be useful to the analog design ...
متن کاملSystem Level Modelling of CNT based Mechanical Sensor
This article presents a system level model of carbon nanotube (CNT) based mechanical sensor, which consists of micro-electro-mechanical (MEMS) platform that is served to actuate single-axis force and single CNT is placed between the movable and fixed electrodes. The change in conductivity of CNT, when strain is applied, is used to measure force or displacement. The simulation of the whole senso...
متن کاملVHDL-AMS models for continuous-time Delta–Sigma modulators
Delta-Sigma modulation using switched capacitor (SC) techniques is an increasingly popular means of performing A/D (or D/A) conversion in modern applications. The main problem with SC-techniques though is the limitation of the maximum sampling frequency. For wideband applications such as VDSL a continuous time implementation is a better solution. However, the simulation of continuous–time 16 mo...
متن کاملCompact Modeling of Emerging Technologies with VHDL-AMS
This paper deals with the compact modeling of several emerging technologies: first, the double-gate MOSFET (DG MOSFET), and second, the carbon nanotube field-effect transistor (CNTFET). For CNTFETs, we propose two compact models, the first one with a classical behavior (like MOSFET), and the second one with an ambipolar behavior (Schottky-barrier CNTFET). All the models have been compared with ...
متن کاملModeling and Evaluation of Bandpass Σ∆ Modulator Non-Idealities Using Simplorer VHDL-AMS
This paper describes an implementation of a bandpass sigma-delta modulator behavioral model with SIMPLORER VHDL-AMS. The model includes most of the non-idealities which affect the performance of the component, such as sampling jitter, kT/C noise and operational amplifier parameters. A comparison with another model, implemented with MATLABSIMULINK by Brigati et al., is made to highlight and val...
